Looking at the latest images from the runways and behind the scenes at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Sydney one thing seems to be clear: The clean “no makeup makeup” look is here to stay!
Those of you who know my work know that I am not only a fan of natural beauty products but also of very natural and minimal makeup looks. I believe less is more in the beauty department, although, don’t get me wrong, I love to play with a little bit of colour and also enjoy creating some dramatic editorial looks from time to time.
In this blog post I want to share with you one of my all time favourite minimal makeup looks with a little strobing involved. This look has been created with all cruelty-free makeup products.
The right prep and base are key for this minimally beautiful look. Spritz you face with a hydrating mist, I currently love Jane Iredale D2o Mist. Then apply a high-quality moisturiser or hydrating primer, for example Z’kin Relief Moisturiser, or Jane Iredale Smooth Affair Primer for well-prepped skin. A cream highlighter like RMS Beauty Living Luminizer applied to the cheekbones enhances the bone structure. A sheer foundation like Vapour Atmosphere Soft Focus Foundation buffed into the skin with a soft foundation brush evens out skin without masking it. For extra radiance & colour corrections try using Stratus, another great product by luxury organic brand Vapour. Use a completely translucent powder like Jane Iredale PureMatte only through the t-zone to keep excess shine at bay.
The secret to keeping the eyes ‘enhanced’ but not heavily made up is to start with hydrating the eye area. Tata Harper Restorative Eye Crème is a real winner. Even out the eyelid with a hint of a tinted eye-primer or foundation. Apply a dab of clear gloss as a highlight in the inner corners or alternatively a shimmery light eyeshadow like Jane Iredale Eye Shere in Champagne Silk.
A nude eyeliner on the inner rim creates an open-eyed fresh look. Enhance your eyelashes by curling them and coating them with a natural effect mascara like Ere Perez Volumising Waterproof Mascara . It’s important to make sure you apply the mascara right on the roots of the lashes to give that framing effect and a luscious thick lash line.
The only colour I used on this look focusses on the lips and cheeks. This is very soft matte peach tone, which will enhance the skin tone. To create the soft focus hint of colour, I recommend using the same product for lips & cheeks. Jane Iredale Just Kissed in Forever Peach is a great subtle colour. Dabbing it on with fingers will create that subtle effortless chic.
