My Cruelty Free Skin Care Routine by Liv Lundelius

I get asked all the time about what skincare products I use personally and what my favourites are. Living a plant-based, vegan lifestyle myself and working as a professional makeup artist using only cruelty-free products, I am always on the look-out for skincare that is luxurious, beautiful to use and all vegan.

The truth is that I like to try new and different products and to always keep up to date with the latest product launches and trends in skincare. That’s why my personal routine does change from time to time. Usually I combine different brands, however, my current favourite routine is all from the same line and it has secured itself the top shelf in my bathroom cabinet. The only things I am adding on and changing up are face-masks or exfoliators from different brands.

Only pure, edible ingredients make it into the lotions and potions of Naturopath Anna Mitsios‘ clean beauty brand Edible Beauty! Without going into too much “natural-beauty-nerd” detail I want to share my favourites, how I use them and why I love them. All the details about the beautiful ingredients can be found on the website.

No. 1 Belle Frais Cleansing Milk is a gentle coconut oil based cleanser that removes makeup and impurities. I use it on dry skin and then remove it with a warm washcloth to ensure I get all the makeup and residue. It smells delicious and makes the skin feel soft. I use it always at night time and only occasionally in the morning.

No.2 Citrus Rhapsody Radiance Tonique is a citrus based toner containing antioxidants fruits and herbs. I just spritz this onto my face directly after cleansing morning and night.

No. 3 Exotic Goddess Ageless Serum plumps the skin with Hyaluronic Acid and Beta Glucan. I like how it feels on the skin and instantly decreases fine lines with a hydration boost. It smells divine too! I use less than half a dropper and massage it into the skin in upward strokes.

No. 4 Vanilla Silk Hydrating Lotion is a delicious smelling and feeling lightweight moisturiser. It feels very hydrating and calming on the skin. I use it often after the Snowflower Oil (see below) for extra moisture or on its own after the Serum. I use one pump for the whole face & neck area and massage it in upward strokes.

All of the above products are considered the Core Four products. On top of these I also use:

Snowflower Illuminating Oil The Snowflower Illuminating Oil gives my skin that natural glow and protects it from the elements – think dry heater air/air conditioning inside and the cold wind outside. I use only 3 drops and press it into the skin after the serum and before my moisturiser. On days when I don’t wear makeup it illuminates the skin and makes it look amazing. It can also be used as a subtle highlight underneath makeup.

Soothe Me Balm This is a very lightweight, gel-like balm. I use this as a night time treatment when I feel that my skin is a little sensitive or prone to break outs. It’s perfect for acne prone skin, as well as any skin sensitivities – this one just heals and solves them all! I use a little spatula to keep the pot hygienic and only use a pea size amount all over my face and neck. If I have breakouts I apply a little extra, as it feels very cooling and healing. In the morning my skin looks 10 years younger and redness and scarring have faded.

Gold Rush Eye Balm This is my little luxury. I use a teeny tiny amount morning and night. I apply it only along the eye contour (where you feel the bone, never apply eye cream close to your eyeball). This one is an all rounder – it de-puffs and decreases dark circles with a little caffeine and has anti-aging powers. I use it first thing after cleansing and toning.

I hope you’ve enjoyed me sharing my routine! It has balanced my skin beautifully and I love that the products are all vegan & cruelty-free. For more inspiration on cruelty-free beauty visit my eco-luxe beauty blog livlifemag.com.
