Thumbs Up: Chantecaille

I popped into Mecca Cosmetica the other day to enquire about which cruelty-free make-up and beauty brands they carried and was thrilled to discover that none of the products they sell have been tested on animals. Now before you get too excited, I must clarify that some of their brands are owned by parent companies who sell to China, meaning they have other brands which test their products on animals (a prerequisite for selling their products in China). However, Mecca does still carry a good range of brands that are 100% cruelty –free. One in particular that caught my eye was Chantecaille.

What is it?

Chantecaille is a high-end, luxe brand of skincare, make-up and fragrances whose core philosophy is to use beauty to change the world.

Ethical credentials

None of Chantecaille’s products are tested on animals. All skincare products are free of synthetic colours and fragrances and do not contain any sulfate detergents, phthalates or petrochemicals.

Philanthropy is an important aspect of the Chantecaille brand. They have released a number of what they call Causemetics Collections, each focusing on a different endangered species or environmental issue. Five percent of sales from that collection goes to a nominated charity working in that particular area. You can find out more here.

How does it look?

My make-up bag was in desperate need of a revamp so I bought the Shine Eye Shade (eye shadow) in Driftwood, the Mascara Faux Cils and the Lip Chic in Anais and I’m loving them all. Chantecaille products don’t come cheap but you get what you pay for and the quality is top-notch.

Where to buy it?

You can buy Chantecaille products from Mecca Cosmetica either in store or online here.
