Ever since switching to cruelty-free hair and beauty products over 5 years ago, I have been searching endlessly for a shampoo and conditioner that not only meets my ethical standards but that also gives me the shiny, healthy-looking hair I so desire. I’m thrilled to announce my search is finally over!
What is it?
Original Mineral hair care range. Includes shampoos and conditioners as well as a range of treatments and great styling products. I’ve grabbed a bottle of their Know Knott detangling spray for my girls’ hair that always gets knotty in-between washes. They also have a product called Surf Bomb for those after that ‘just came back from the beach’ look.
Original Mineral was founded by UK-born, Australian-based Jose Bryce Smith in response to her husband, who is also a hairdresser, developing contact dermatitis from his exposure to the harsh chemicals in the products they used in their salon.
While not completely chemical free, their products are what they call low chemical. They have taken out as many of the chemicals as possible while still delivering a salon quality product.
Original Mineral does not test it’s products on animals and uses recycled packaging.
How does it look?
I’m using the shampoo and conditioner myself and on my girls’ hair and we’re all thrilled with the results. My hair, which is very thick and prone to dryness and frizz, is looking better than it has done in years (if I say so myself!). My eldest daughter’s hair, which is similar to mine and has been looking dull and lifeless, is looking shiny and lustrous once again. Hallelujah!!
